What is Photothermal Therapy?

Photothermal therapy (PTT) refers to efforts to use electromagnetic radiation (most often in infrared wavelengths) for the treatment of various medical conditions, including cancer.

Cleaning the sebaceous follicles

Reduction of sebum production

Alleviation of Acne Lesions

Acne Treatment With Gold Is a Global Trend.

According to the Richard Rox Anderson participated study of American Society for Dermatologic Surgery in 2015, gold-coated silica treatment showed specific thermal destruction in sebaceous bleb and sweat gland, causing selective destruction of acne germs and sebum. Moreover, Inflammation was mild; gold particles were not retained in the skin after one month of treatment. Dr. Jill Waibel released the report(85% of durable improvement appeared in acne after 12 Months) at American Academy of Dermatology in 2019.

Ultrasonic delivery of silica–gold nanoshells for photothermolysis of sebaceous glands in humans: Nanotechnology from the bench to clinic

Low-frequency ultrasound was used to facilitate deep glandular penetration of the nanoshells. Upon delivery of the nanoshells into the follicles and glands, followed by wiping of superficial nanoshells from skin surface and exposure of skin to near-infrared laser, nanoshells localized in the follicles absorb light, get heated, and induce focal thermolysis of sebaceous glands.
